POKHARA, July 14 Part-time teachers at Prithvi Narayan Campus have resorted to protest demanding contract and increment in their remuneration. The teachers who have been serving for the past one decade at the campus announced indefinite sit-in protest saying that Tribhuvan University didn’t appoint them on contract, neither did the campus administration implement past agreements. The agitating teachers picketed campus Chief Prof Devendra Bahadur Lamichhane’s office today. While speaking to agitating teachers, Lamichhane said he supported their demands and would do his best to address them. “I will clearly put forth the concerns of part time teacher in the campus Management Committee meeting,” he pledged. As many as 154 teachers of five different streams have been serving as part-timers at the campus. Student unions and Professors’ Association of TU also expressed solidarity with the agitation of Part-time Teachers. “If our demands are ignored, we will halt regular classes from tomorrow,” warned Part-time Teachers’ Association Prithvi Narayan Campus Chairman Sudesh Pandit.
