Foreign employment fraud convict nabbed

KATHMANDU: A man who was absconding after being convicted in a foreign employment fraud case has been nabbed from Putalisadak of Kathmandu on Friday. Praveen Shrestha (37), a resident of Mangal Bazaar in LSMC-18, was absconding after the Foreign Employment Tribunal convicted him in a fraud case and slapped Rs 150,000 fine and a jail term of 18 months. The Tribunal on December 21, 2014 had observed that he swindled Prem Shrestha of Rs 700,000 and Samjhana Sakha of Rs 400,000 assuring them of lucrative jobs abroad. Meanwhile, the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, which nabbed Shrestha, produced him before the Kathmandu District Court for execution of the sentence. The Court sent him to Sundhara-based Central Jail to do the time.
