KATHMANDU, APRIL 21

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index fell by 7.75 points or 0.28 percent on Monday, closing at 2,698.28 points by the end of the trading day.

The Sensitive Index, which tracks class 'A' stocks, declined by 0.16 percent, while the Float Index-reflecting actively traded shares-also dropped by 0.25 percent.

Sector-wise, market performance was mixed. Seven sectors posted losses while six managed to close in the green. However, none of the gaining sectors recorded growth exceeding 1 percent. The Trading sector suffered the biggest loss of the day, dropping 1.52 percent, followed by the Finance sector at 1.03 percent and the Others sector at 1.00 percent.

A total of 21,203,766 shares of 319 companies changed hands through 78,678 transactions, pushing the daily turnover to Rs 8.77 billion.

Among individual stock performances, 112 scrips advanced, 133 declined, and one remained unchanged.

By the end of the trading session, NEPSE's total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.486 trillion.
