Huawei Y5c: Value for money mobile in every sense

By Probir Ranjan Chakraborty

Kathmandu Last week my colleague bought the Huawei Y5C,  which is pocket-friendly and value for money mobile. I had a close view on it and the phone amazed me with the specifications offered at the most affordable price. Equipped with cutting-edge technology it is the perfect confluence of science and art and at a price which makes the Y5c series very attractive to young consumers as a preferred 3G smartphone. Huawei Y5c offers standard and sophisticated feature unlike other phones in its class and hence, gives an impression at times that it has been designed for high-end users. The very affordable price somewhat makes it perfect for mid-range Nepali customers. The Y5c bears similarity with the Samsung J1. I will try to draw a healthy comparison between the two. To start with, dual SIM capability is common in both, but they differ if ROM/RAM capacity is to be taken into account. The 8GB ROM and 1GB RAM of Y5c endows users swift and hassle-free operation with higher performance while multitasking and enables them to storea  much larger amount of data. The Samsung J1 boasts 4GB ROM and 512MB RAM. The 1GB RAM seems quite perfect with the 1.2 GHz Quadcore processor, which may again be more powerful, as compared to any other competitors in the segment. Huawei Y5c’s 4.5-inch (854x480 resolution) screen is good enough to play games, texting and multi-tasking while also being 6.75 per cent higher in resolution than J1’s, which has a screen size of just 4.3 inch (800x480 resolution). The ultra-narrow frame, yet bigger screen of Y5c lends a better user experience and also makes it handy and premium in its class. Y5c does not merely come with an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera but is also enhanced with dual LED flash. The camera MP capacity and LED flash facility makes the phone far superior for photography than J1 or any other smartphones. Samsung J1, beside the pixel, does fall short not to have dual LED flash technology, which is an advantage Huawei offers. The Y5c’s 4-Core Chipset as compared to J1’s 2-core chipset makes the smartphone experience smoother and faster. Largely, Y5c pretty much outshines J1 or other competitors with its specs, better camera, powerful processor/RAM and primarily, the price. The biggest strength of Y5c, as with most Huawei’s phone series, is its rich capabilities. The price tag of Rs 9,999 does not alone make it affordable for Nepali customers but also makes it stand out in the jostle of low to high-end mobile phones in the market. In my view Huawei Y5c, is the perfect choice for entry/mid level smart phone consumers in Nepal. (The author is a Senior Manager at Thakral One, an IT Solutions Company.
