Mario Balotelli couldn't help AC Milan out on his return in the derby against his old team Inter Milan. Claudio Pizarro's third stint with Werder Bremen started better as he helped secure a win over Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. Here is a look at Europe's major leagues on Sunday: ___ ITALY Inter Milan beat city rival AC Milan 1-0 to move top of Serie A, as Fredy Guarin celebrated his 100th league appearance with the winning goal after Milan had wasted a number of early chances. Balotelli hit the post late after coming on a substitute for his first appearance after rejoining Milan on loan from Liverpool last month. Balotelli started his career at Inter before moving to Manchester City in 2010 and he came off the bench to deafening boos from the home fans. Four of the earlier matches ended with the same 2-2 scoreline. Sassuolo drew at home to Atalanta, in a match that also saw two saved penalties and two red cards, while Torino drew at Hellas Verona. Newly promoted Carpi picked up its first ever Serie A point at Palermo, while Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri's return to Empoli also ended in a stalemate. ___ ENGLAND Leicester staged a late comeback to maintain its unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a 3-2 win over Aston Villa, while Tottenham earned its first victory of the campaign. Leicester trailed 2-0 with 18 minutes remaining before Richie De Laet began Leicester's comeback in the 72nd minute. Jamie Vardy dragged Leicester level with a close-range finish and Nathan Dyer won it in the 89th, heading in while being flattened by goalkeeper Brad Guzan. Goals from Jack Grealish and Carles Gil had put Villa in command, but Leicester's win puts it second in the table behind Manchester City after five rounds. Earlier, Ryan Mason's late goal gave Tottenham a 1-0 win over last-place Sunderland. Mason scored in the 82nd minute in northeast England, taking Erik Lamela's through-ball before clipping over goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon. ___ SPAIN Celta Vigo relinquished a two-goal lead in a disappointing 3-3 home draw against 10-man Las Palmas, missing a chance to join Barcelona atop the Spanish league. Chilean playmaker Fabian Orellana scored a goal and set up the other two, but Las Palmas equalized despite playing with a man down early on. Orellana opened the scoring for Celta with a 13th-minute penalty after Las Palmas goalkeeper Javi Varas was sent off for fouling striker Iago Aspas. Orellana then set up goals for defensive midfielders Daniel Wass and Manuel Nolito. Striker Araujo netted for Las Palmas in the 23rd and 61st, and David Simon scored the equalizer in the 74th. Villarreal earned a 3-1 win over Granada; Athletic Bilbao defeated Getafe 3-1 at home with two goals from Aritz Aduriz, and Basque club Eibar drew 0-0 at Malaga. ___ GERMANY Pizarro came on with eight minutes remaining and played a pivotal role in Werder Bremen's 3-1 Bundesliga victory at Hoffenheim. With the score tied at 1-1, Pizarro beat two defenders before setting up Anthony Ujah to give Bremen the lead in injury time. Zlatko Junuzovic then added the third with his for his second goal. Junuzovic opened the scoring just before the break only for substitute Eduardo Vargas to equalize four minutes after the restart with his first Bundesliga goal. Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored the winner from a narrow angle as Schalke defeated Mainz 2-1 at home in the late game. Borussia Dortmund leads on goal difference from defending champion Bayern Munich, while Schalke is fifth and Bremen is sixth. ___ FRANCE Winger Paul-Georges Ntep and forward Giovanni Sio scored as second-place Rennes won 2-0 at Nantes in a hot-tempered Brittany derby to close the gap on French league leader Paris Saint-Germain to one point. Nantes finished with nine men, after midfielder Adryan Oliveira Tavares and striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson got straight reds for dangerous tackles. Elsewhere, winger Romain Alessandrini scored twice as Marseille thumped Bastia 4-1 and Monaco won 1-0 at Ajaccio thanks to Brazilian defender Fabinho's penalty. Right back Benjamin Mendy gave Marseille the lead and striker Michy Batshuayi completed the scoring.
