Education and tourism experts today emphasised the need to incorporate tourism courses in school and university curricula to impart knowledge about the sector.

Such a move would not only help create awareness among students concerning tourism, but will also generate skilled manpower, they stressed.

It is time the concerned authorities introduce tourism courses in the syllabus, said Bhumi Lal Lama, general secretary of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), here. “Proper tourism education will enable citizens to contribute to chalking out policies for strengthening the country’s economy,” he said.

He was speaking at a conference titled “Role of education in tourism and mountaineering development”, organised by the faculty of education, Tribhuvan University.

Bhushan Shrestha, head of TU’s faculty of education, stressed on including tourism courses at school and university levels.
