Sushil Koirala leaving for US today on 2-week medical trip

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala will leave Kathmandu at 2 pm today for the United states on a two-week medical trip. During his visit, he is scheduled to undergo a follow-up check-up of his cancer at New York-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, where he had treated his lung cancer in July 2014. According to Koirala’s Foreign Relations Adviser Dinesh Bhattarai, Koirala will be accompanied by his aides, including Atul Koirala, Mridula Koirala, Bhattarai himself and security officer Mahendra Marasini. Meanwhile, Koirala handed over the responsibility of party presidency to NC Vice- President Ram Chandra Paudel.
