KATHMANDU:

Little Angels’ School (LAS) and Lincoln School won the day’s matches at the Inter-High School Basketball Tournament, which has been organised by Lincoln School and CSSV. Nabin Shrestha scored 16 points as LAS defeated Rato Bangala 31-20. Om Shrestha netted 14 for Rato Bangala. In the other match, Lincoln School registered a 72-53 victory over Gyanodaya School. Adrian Fishler scored 23 points for Lincoln, while Asim Serchan scored 25 for Gyanodaya. After the home-and-away league, the top two teams will advance to the final. — HNS

Magar enters last 16

Kathmandu:

Shree Ram Thapa Magar beat Nilam Acharya 6-1, 6-1 and entered the round of last 16 at the first Autumn Open Tennis Tournament. Also advancing were Manoj Bikram Shah, Sanu Gurung, Kamalesh Shukla, Santosh Khatri, Utsav Rijal, Dawa Sonam Sherpa, and Krishna Karsholia. Shah beat Achyut Basnet 6-1, 6-1; Gurung defeated Mahesh Shahi 6-0, 6-1; Shukla outplayed Atmaram Karki 6-2, 6-1; Khatri eliminated Rahul Rayamajhi 7-6, 6-1; Rijal routed Sudarshan 6-0, 6-0; Sherpa prevailed 6-1, 6-1 over Suraj Lal; and Karsholia earned a walkover. In the U-14 boys semi-final, Amul Regmi beat Lopsang Lama 6-1, 6-1 and will face Gaurav Shah. In veterans’ (45+) singles, Chyangba Dhundup, Karma Gurung, Umesh Pandey, Prithvi Thakali and Sangram Lama entered the pre-quarters. — HNS
