Police nab two fraudsters

Kathmandu, November 9 Police recently arrested two persons on the charge of swindling two persons of Rs 1.75 million promising them jobs in a restaurant in Japan. Durga Bhattachan (52) from Pakhapani-3 of Myagdi district and Laxmi GC (29) from Chauthe, Pokhara-14 of Kaski district have been arrested from Sundhara of Kathmandu and Pokhara of Kaski, respectively. The duo had defrauded Deepak Paudel, a resident of Thulo Pokhari-3 of Parbat district, and Dal Bahadur Gurung from Dhikurpokhari-6 of Kaski district, of Rs 1 million and Rs 750,000 respectively, according to the police. The alleged fraudsters had even stamped fake Japanese visas on their passports and sent them to the Tribhuvan International Airport to catch a flight on Friday. Police learned about the fraud after the victims were arrested. The Metropolitan Police Crime Division said that GC at first had assured to send them to a hotel owned by Bhattachan in Japan. He had demanded Rs 1.2 million from each of them for the job. The MPCD handed over the suspects to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation and action.
