Parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are at risk of heavy rainfall on Wednesday, as monsoon conditions continue to bring rain and thunderstorms across Nepal.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division said heavy rain is likely at one or two places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati, and in the hilly region of Gandaki. Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at many places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini, and at some places in Karnali and Sudurpashchim.
The Tarai is also expected to see rain, with moderate rainfall and thunderstorms likely at many places in Koshi and at some places in Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini.
Rain to continue overnight: Wet conditions are forecast to persist into Thursday, with moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki. Heavy rain is likely at one or two places in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati, and in the hilly and Tarai regions of Gandaki and Lumbini tonight.
In Kathmandu, moderate rain with thundershowers is forecast today and tonight, with a 60% chance of rain both periods. The capital is expected to record a maximum of 28–30°C and a minimum of 20–22°C.
Pokhara has the highest forecast probability of rain among major cities, at 70% both today and tonight, with daytime temperatures of 30–32°C and overnight lows of 23–25°C.
Simara, Bhairahawa, Janakpur and Dipayal could reach 33–35°C, while Jumla is expected to be the coolest at night, with temperatures falling to 12–14°C.
The division said the country remains under the influence of monsoon winds, with the monsoon trough lying around its average position.
