Nepal, China agree to accelerate dry port construction in Rasuwa

KATHMANDU: Nepal and China have agreed to accelerate the process of constructing a dry port in Timure of Rasuwa district and also decided to conduct a comprehensive design for it. Laxman Babadur Basnet ,Executive Director at Nepconstructial Inter-Model Transport Development Committee, and Chairman of Architectural Reconcern Design Institution of Tibet Autonomous Region, Fu Jhinjhau, signed the agreement to conduct the comprehensive design. The dry port is being constructed under the agreement inked with the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies in 2014, and the subsequent correspondences of the Finance Ministry with China in 2015. The Ministry of Commerce and Supplies said that the construction of the dry port would begin immediately after the submission of primary model of the dry port structure within three months. Earlier, the Chinese special team with the involvement of the Inter Model Transport Development Committee had conducted onsite inspection and produced a preliminary model of dry port to be constructed in five hectares of land. The dry port would have administrative and residential buildings, parking lot for around 350 trucks and  a warehouse spread over 750 square kilometre. Similarly, it will also have open huts covering 2,080 square km to check goods, a check post, a fire extinguishing system, and other essential facilities as of drinking water, and electricity.
