Nawalparasi, January 8 United CPN-Maoist General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara today accused the Supreme Court of undermining the agreement between parties while issuing its latest verdict against its leader Balkrishna Dhungel. Speaking with journalists in Kawasoti today, Mahara said the the Supreme Court verdict would not be acceptable to them. “Earlier, during the constitution writing process, it was agreed that no Panchayat era or conflict-era cases would be taken to court. We were sure that nothing against the agreement would take place, but this has happened,” he said, adding that the party would deal with the issue in its own way. On a different note, Mahara stressed the need for broad consensus among political stakeholders in order to resolve the present deadlock. “ There is no alternative to talks. As the talks being held between the leaders of the Madhes-based forces and the major parties are heading in a positive direction, I am hopeful that there will soon be consensus on disputed issues,” he said. The Maoist leader also ruled out change of government any time soon. “We are making utmost efforts to bail the country out of the current impasse. Change of government would not resolve the current crisis,” he asserted. Mahara was in the district to participate in the district convention of his party’s student wing All Nepal National Independent Student Union-Revolutionary.
