Dang, January 9 Unified CPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said the government and major parties were close to sealing an agreement with the agitating United Madhesi Democratic Front within a few days. Talking to the representatives of Tulasipur chapter of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Dang, the Maoist chief said major parties and the government had reached close to an agreement with the agitating parties. “All the demands raised by UDMF will not be met, but we are close to an agreement on the genuine demands raised by front,” said Dahal. Stating that the government’s entire energy was focused on opening the blockade at border checkpoints, Dahal said the government had failed to work as expected. “Soon the blockade will be lifted and then the government would focus its efforts on the country’s development,” Dahal added. Dahal stated that efforts from various quarters were under way to remove the blockade and ease supplies from India to Nepal. “The government is making all possible efforts, while the UCPN-Maoist and the main opposition Nepali Congress are also working from their sides to open the blockade,” Dahal said. Dahal reiterated that the bill on amending the constitution had been tabled in the Parliament.”
