Joint task force holds 'serious discussion' on prime agendas

KATHMANDU: The joint task force of the major three parties --Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist -- and the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front held discussion on the latter's 11-point demand on Sunday evening. Emerging from the meeting, leaders, who parted their ways with an understanding to resume the discussion tomorrow, hinted that the discussion was heading to a positive direction. According to Deputy Prime Minister Bhim Rawal, of CPN-UML, a serious discussion was held today and it centred on the prime agendas and expressed his hope that it would bear fruit. UDMF represenative Hridayesh Tripathi, of Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party, said the task force discussed various issues including demarcation of provincial boundaries, inclusive proportional representation, citizenship and language. The meeting was held at the Parliament Secretariat this evening and it lasted for about 90 minutes. All representatives -- Mahesh Acharya of Nepali Congress, Bhim Rawal of CPN-UML, Krishna Bahadur Mahara of UCPN-Maoist, Rajendra Shrestha of Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal, Hridayesh Tripathi of Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party and  Ram Naresh Yadav of Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party -- attended today's meeting.
