ITAHARI: Two youth poachers were arrested with six owlets of endangered Eurasian eagle owls, commonly known as Huchil, in Tengra khola of Itahari in Sunsari district on Sunday. The arrestees have been identified as Bishal Tamang and Rojan Bhujel of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-13. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the poachers, informed the Area Police Office, Itahari. Deputy Superintendent of Police Om Adhikari informed that each baby owl is sold at Rs 500,000 in the Gulf nations. Huchil is an endangered bird and is enlisted in the Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES).
