BIRGUNJ: Cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) intensified agitation in Birgunj on Tuesday. They resorted to the streets, burning tyres and forcing local businesses to shut in the morning. The market areas, however, reopened after 2 pm. The UDMF had held a meeting yesterday and reviewed the ongoing agitation. The alliance of agitating four Madhesi parties had staged a torch rally yesterday evening. The protests had slackened in the city for some days.
