BIRGUNJ: Goods stuck at Raxaul on the Indian side for about four months have started entering Nepal after the Indian authorities eased the border restrictions recently. But businessmen are paying customs for only one fourth of the imports, according to a source at Nepal's customs office. Carts are seen ferrying goods from Raxaul to Birgunj on nighttime, while human carriers are crossing the border at day time right in front of the United Democratic Madhesi Front cadres who have been staging sit-in protest at the no man's land since September 24. Most of the human carriers, however, are using the route under the Miteri Pul, the bridge at the Nepal-India border, to evade customs. Meanwhile, Nepal's customs office said it has been collecting about Rs 3 million a day as customs after the supplies eased. Cargo vehicles, however, are yet to enter Nepal from the Indian side.
