Kathmandu Sipradi Trading Pvt Ltd, authorised distributor of Tata Motors, is planning to launch Tata’s latest offering — Zica in the Nepali market. The company is expected to introduce the hatchback in the domestic market by the end of June. “Zica is one of the promising models from Tata Motors and we have pinned high expectations on this hatchback,” said Prabin Khatiwada, Head of Passenger Car Business Unit at Sipradi. “This hatchback is a blend of power, performance and style,” he said, adding that they are planning to introduce the latest offering by the end of June.” Citing that the hatchback falls under the B-segment, Khatiwada said, “This hatchback competes with the likes of Honda Brio, Grand i10, Ford Figo and Maruti Suzuki Celerio.” According to him, they aim to sell around 500 units of the hatchback within the first year of its launch. The Tata Zica petrol comes with an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder DOHC aluminum motor, which is a part of Tata Motor’s Revotron family of engines. This engine generates a maximum power of 83.8 bhp and a peak torque of 11.6 kgm. The diesel engine is also an all-new 1.05-litre three-cylinder DOHC unit made of aluminium with a cast iron block. It delivers a maximum power of 69 bhp and a peak torque of 14.2 kgm. The Zica follows Tata’s HorizonNext design language with a wide mesh grille and swept back headlamps that resemble the Tata family face seen in Bolt and Zest. Though the side profile is reminiscent of the Indica, the tail is redesigned for modern and fresh looks with horizontal tail lamps. The hatchback is 3,746 mm long, 1,647 mm wide and stands 1,535 mm high. It comes with a wheelbase of 2,400 mm, and an impressive ground clearance of 170 mm when equipped with 14-inch wheels. The Zica petrol weighs 1,012 kgs while the diesel is 1,080 kgs. It has a turning circle of 4.9 metres. Equipped with an independent front suspension, The Zica has McPherson struts with coil springs. At the rear, it has a semi-independent set-up with twist beam. The hatchback gets disc brakes at the front and drums at the rear. The high-end variants of the Zica come with 14-inch alloys and 175/65R14 tubeless tyres while the lower trims come with 14-inch pressed steel wheels. The hatchback comes with Tata’s ConnectNext infotainment system with eight speakers. It offers Bluetooth connectivity and steering-mounted controls that can be paired with mobiles as well as for audio. It will also have smartphone-based navigation. The Zica offers driver and front passenger air-bags, speed-sensing auto door locks and an engine immobiliser. It is also equipped with ABS and EBD along with corner stability control.
