Kathmandu:

Nepathya is all set to go to the studio to record their all-out social album. The first of its kind for Nepathya, the album describes the current situation of the country. All songs in the album are related to the issues concerning Nepal whether it be violence gripping the country or the public appeal for peace. Nepa~laya organised a special gathering on 5 August to provide a platform for Nepathya to perform their unrecorded songs. The special invitees of the function were thrilled to hear the unrecorded songs of the band ‘Nepathya’ which has been underground for quite sometime preparing for a variety of activities for the end of 2005 and 2006. The end of 2005 and 2006 will also see Nepathya performing in various countries of the world including Nepal.

Amrit Gurung, the lead vocalist of the band says, “We have decided to record a social album to show our urge for peace. Violence has affected each and every sector of the country and we as a citizen have our responsibility towards the nation at this hour of crises. The yet unnamed seventh album will describe the anguish and suffering of the common Nepali in these difficult times.” Nepathya is one name in Nepali Music — which has gained consistent popularity and social recognition. In the past 15 years of it’s existence, Nepathya has been the trendsetters. They are the pioneers to blend the folk melodies into youth friendly pop and rock format. Apart from folk, Nepathya’s songs also portray contemporary Nepal — it’s pain at times of war and distress, and yet the ray of hope an artist sees and imagines of is embedded in their songs.
