Nepal Army fetes SAG medallists

Lalitpur, February 21 Nepal Army today felicitated the 12th South Asian Games medallists here at the Nepali Army Sports Complex. Chief of the Army Staff Gen Rajendra Chhetri handed over Rs 25,000 each to gold medal winners, wushuka Nima Gharti Magar and judoka Phupu Lhamu Khatri, who are affiliated with the Tribhuvan Army Club. Likewise, 11 silver medallists were rewarded with Rs 20,000 apiece, while 18 bronze medal winners received Rs 15,000 each. According to NA’s Sports Department Chief, Ram Kaji Rana Magar, the TAC-affiliated players won a total of 52 medals in the Games held in India’s Guwahati and Shillong from February 5-16. “As all the players were not available for the programme, we will honour others later,” Rana Magar said. Nepal won three gold, 23 silver and 34 bronze medals in the SA Games.
