Story behind my dream

Story behind my dream

By Suresh Kumar Mukhiya

Whenever the word ‘dream’ or any of its synonyms strikes my mind, it refreshes all those memories from my past where I used to enjoy the most believing myself to be the king of my achievements. Although it was my imaginary world I used to believe them. But now as I am inside our so called society, I am in a great confusion about its existence as it is observed as a scenario of war where one group, i.e. dream seekers, are struggling to turn their dreams into reality and another group, i.e. parents/guardians, obstructing those dream seekers by forcing their own artificial wish upon them. British writer and social critic Charles Dickens had once said, “A dream, all a dream, that ends in nothing, and leaves the sleeper where he lay down, but I wish you to know that you inspired it.” That’s why I am no exception, I too used to live a dream during my childhood and now am attempting to turn that dream into reality, i.e. to start a school where talent would be valued. Since my school days I have repeatedly been observing a scenario in my hometown where the children were forced to sacrifice their dream because of the high expectation of their parents to see their kids as doctors, engineers, architects, CA etc. in the future. As a result most of those kids were growing up with their born talents decreasing in sharpness. I still remember a boy from my neighbourhood who was growing with the sole aim to become a ‘multi-talented’ person because he was gifted -- excellent at dancing, writing and singing. He used to work hard in studies too so that his parents would not obstruct him from following his passion. But recently I observed him working as an employee at a cosmetic shop. All had gone to waste because of his parents’ high expectations and also lack of infrastructure in small cities education system to provide training related to those with gifted talent. So, my dream is to start an organization or say a team which will administer extra-activities classes of small town’s schools too with specialized teachers who will understand the importance of the passions most kids have. My dream is different in the sense that it will not only provide appropriate training to the students but also gift them an open platform to showcase their talent. That organization will work for the exposure of their talent. Children are the future of the nation and need proper guidance at their initial stage.
