Security guard held for ATM fraud

Kathmandu, February 25 Police today arrested a woman security guard for withdrawing money from ATM by using other people’s debit cards in Kathmandu. Sun Maya Tamang (23) of Chaturale-4 in Nuwakot, currently residing in Mhepi, was nabbed by a team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Baneshwor. She was a security guard at the ATM booth of Baneshwor-based branch office of Nabil Bank. Police detained her after receiving complaints of ATM fraud from account holders. According to police, she had managed to use ATM cards of different account holders to withdraw a total of Rs 54,000. Tamang has been kept in the MPR custody. Police said they have launched an investigation to ascertain how she got hold of others’ debit cards and withdrew money. Meanwhile, police arrested two persons on the charge of robbing a man of his gold ring in Dhalku yesterday. The arrestees are Ujwal Tuladhar (36) of New Road and Mukiya Gurung (28) of Dhobichaur, Kathmandu. According to police, the duo were nabbed while fleeing the scene with the gold ring belonging to Raju Prakash Shrestha (39) of Ramechhap. Tuladhar and Gurung allegedly thrashed Shrestha before robbing him of the gold ring. They had tried to flee the scene after seeing police.
