Khotang, February 26 Khotang district administration has entrusted security personnel with ensuring that the VDC secretaries report to their concerned VDC offices. With growing complaints from service seekers that the secretaries stay in the district headquarters, a meeting of the district natural disaster rescue committee decided to entrust security personnel with monitoring whether or not the VDC secretaries report to their offices. “The decision was taken as many VDC secretaries have been staying in the district headquarters in the aftermath the earthquakes last year,” said Local Development Officer Nischal Raj Pandey. DSP Bidhyananda Majhi said the decision would build a moral pressure on the secretaries staying in the urban areas to return to their duty stations. The meeting also decided to make it mandatory for VDC secretaries to participate in the regular meeting of the District Development Committee. “As the VDC secretaries go to the district headquarters every month saying that they have a meeting to attend, we have decided to hold the DDC meeting once in four months. This will help the VDC secretaries to remain at their offices and tend to local affairs,” said LDO Pandey.
