Police officials held while taking bribe

SAPTARI: Two officials of Nepal Police, Inspector Prem Bahadur Thapa and Constable Ashok Kumar Yadav of Area Police Office, Kadarbona, have been arrested with Rs 40,000 bribe money. They were arrested on Wednesday by the officials of the eastern regional office of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). A team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramesh Kumar Basnet of CIAA regional office arrested Thapa and Yadav red-handed based on a tip-off with the amount that they were taking from Mohammad Sabir Ali of Saptari district for settling a case of road accident, chief of eastern regional office Dalluraj Basnet said. Basnet said that Thapa and Yadav had agreed to receive Rs 40,000 in the first phase and Rs 100,000 from Ali once the case was settled.
