Kathmandu:
On the beginning episode of the elimination round of Samsung Nepali Tara, Brazesh Khanal, programming head and the host of the show, had elatedly said, “We received a whopping 98,000 votes even from Bahrain, Brunei and India.”
Last week, public votes crossed 2,47,000. Khanal is now convinced that the show is a grand success. “We can say the show has been able to hit off well with the target audience,” he expressed delightedly. The show has set records of becoming the first TV show with such phenomenal public participation that it could truly be called a two-way media communication in Nepal.
Cyber cafes in cities are packed with surfers sending votes for their favourite contestant. Votes have been received from Nepal, India, Singapore, Brunei and even from Bahrain. “Imagine what the scene would be after prepaid mobiles are opened,” Khanal said.
