Janakpurdham, April 9 Indian envoy to Nepal Ranjit Rae today said Nepal should capitalise on the progress made by India as the two countries enjoy centuries-old cultural and religious ties. Speaking at Indo-Nepal Border Problem Solution and Indo-Nepal Journalists’ meeting organised jointly by Indian consulate in Birgunj and Nepal-India Women Friendly Society in Birgunj, the Indian ambassador said, “The open border between Nepal and India is a salient feature our abiding ties.” He argued that open border had allowed free movement of people and import and export of goods. “Nepal should capitalise on its open border with India,” said Rae. He stated that Nepal’s problem was also of that of India. “India does not want to see Nepal mired in trouble,” Rae said adding “India and Nepal enjoy centuries-old cultural and religious relations and India wants to strengthen the bilateral ties and take the relations between the two countries to a new height. Further, Rae said India wanted to see stability and perennial peace in Nepal. “India wants Nepal to resolve the existing problems,” he said.  He argued that it was natural to have some misunderstandings and disagreements.
