CC fails to nominate new CJ today also

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Constitutional Council (CC) ended inconclusively on Sunday after Speaker Onsari Gharti did not show up. The CC was supposed to nominate the most senior Supreme Court Justice Sushila Karki for the post of new Chief Justice (CJ). Earlier on Friday, the CC could not nominate Karki for the post of new Chief Justice after Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Parliamentary Party leader of the main oppostion, did not attend the meeting. The CC has to nominate Karki for the post of new Chief Justic within this week. If the CC fails to nominate Karki till then, she will be the acting Chief Justice. Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha is retiring due to age limit on April 13. The next meeting of the CC has been scheduled for 5:30 pm today. READ ALSO Deuba’s absence delays new CJ’s nomination
