Youth stage fast-unto-death demanding employment

KATHMANDU: As many as 12 youth are holding a fast-unto-death demanding employment to all youth as per their qualification, skills and competence, in Kathmandu for last five days. The youth led by Maoist leader Chandra Bahadur Thapa have been staging the strike at the Khulamanch since Wednesday. Issuing a press statement today, Thapa said all the protesters are Bachelor and Master students at the Tribhuvan University. Meanwhile, various political parties and organisations have extended their support to the campaign. While UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal extended support to the campaign during his May Day address today, former Chief Secretary Leela Mani Paudyal had visited the protesters, according to Thapa. Naya Shakti Nepal leaders Devendra Paudel and Khimlal Devkota and Madan Puraskar winner Amar Nyaupane were also among the people to extend their support. Student union leaders of CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist have also expressed solidarity.
