8 cops hurt as explosive goes off in APF batallion

DAMAULI: At least eight Armed Police Force (APF) personnel were injured after an explosive went off at the explosive storage room of the APF Manakamana Battalion in Bhanu Municipality-2 of Tanahun district on Sunday. According to Inspector Gajendra Kumar Chaudhary of the Area Police Office, Bhanu, the injured have been identified Dipesh Kumar Chaudhary, Yam Bahadur Thapa, Sobhakar Rijal, Prem Singh, Prem Gharti Magar, Deepak Khadka, Dhirendra Chand and Hum Bahadur Rana.

The incident occurred while they were cleaning the room this afternoon. Among the injured, Dipesh, Yam and Sobhakar are said to be in critical condition. DSP Surendra Bahadur Gurung of the District Police Office, Tanahun, said that the injured are undergoing treatment at the Laxmi Hospital in Dumre. UPDATE: DSP Surendra Bahadur Gurung has informed that the injured have been taken to Kathmandu on a Nepal Army helicopter for further treatment.
