KATHMANDU: A tawny fish owl (huchil), a species of bird listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has been 'rescued' from Lalitpur in the wee hours of Monday. The Metropolitan Police Crime Division said, 33-year-old Kapil Rai, a permanent resident of Dhodali Khani, Katunje-4 in Bhojpur, currently residing in Lalitpur rescued the endangered bird nearby his home. The MCPD said Rai saw the owl being attacked by a murder of crows, rescued it and informed the MCPD after knowing it to be a endangered species. The bird has been handed over to the District Forests Office, Hattisar, said police.
