KATHMANDU: Kirat Rai Sports Association and National Institute of Sports at National Sports Council on Monday handed over financial assistance of Rs 10,000 and karate kits worth Rs 45,000 to 12-year-old Rajendra Rai. KRSA and senior karate coach Mahendra Rai, who is also the deputy director at NIS, donated Rs 5,000 each to help in the education of the junior player. Urdip Joshi, the owner of Samjhana Laboratory Clinic, handed over kits including gee, gloves and sparring pads to Rai, who came into limelight after he won 20kg section gold medal and was named the best fighter in the Member Secretary Cup few months ago. Rai has been training under Coach Sangha Ratna Maharjan for the last one year. Rai and his family members work at a brick kiln in Bosigaun, Satungal.
