Police must work together with public: IGP

Rajbiraj, July 22 Inspector General of Nepal Police Upendra Kanta Aryal today underscored the need for the Nepal Police to work hand in hand with the general public to curb criminal activities. During a programme held to inaugurate a newly built structure of the District Police Office Saptari today, IGP Aryal said, “The police must join hands with civilians to fight crime in the society,” said IGP Aryal. He said security personnel must be cordial and co-operative towards civilians. “We cannot establish peace and harmony in the society if we act against the will of the people. People will only respect and support the police if we respect them and help them understand our duty to society,” stressed IGP Aryal. Meanwhile, IGP Aryal felicitated Jogendra Bhagat, chairperson of Thakodevi-Jogendra Bhagat Service Trust, for providing financial assistance for the construction of the 12-room building for the Eastern Regional Police Hospital at Rupani Chowk, Raypur. Bhagat also handed over a check worth Rs 251,000 to Eastern Regional Police Chief DIG Keshari Raj Ghimire to furnish the structure. DIG Ghimire expressed his commitment to maintain peace, security, and curb criminal activities. SP Bhim Prasad Dhakal briefed all guests present in the programme on the security and law and order situation in the district. Chief District Officer Bal Dev Gautam said the new building would ease everyday operational activities.
