KATHMANDU: Police arrested two persons in possession of one kg Buddha Chitta beads from Narsingh Chok in Thamel of KMC-35 on Thursday. The suspects have been identified as Sanjay Tamang (22) of Surya Binayak, Bhaktapur and Raj Lama (22) of Dolalghat-2, Kavre, currently residing at Kapurdhara, KMC-29. A plain-clothes police Constable deployed from the Metropolitan Police Cricle, Lainchaur, nabbed the duo with the holy Buddhist prayer beads at around 10 pm yesterday. Buddha Chitta is a tree with religious significance and its beads are used by Buddhists while praying and meditation and are worn around neck or wrist. Buddhist prayer beads are a customary tool used to count the number of times mantra (Buddha quotes) is recited whilst meditating and remembering the life of Buddha.
