Dahal moves into PM's official residence in Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal moved into the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar along with his wife on Friday. Officials at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, including Secretary Dipendra Nath Sharma, staff of the Prime Minister's official residence and security personnel welcomed Prime Minister Dahal and his spouse Sita today late afternoon. As per the custom, Sharma handed over the key of Baluwatar residence to the first lady. While entering the official residence as the country's chief executive for the second time, Dahal said he would use the logistics whatever were already available there. He further directed the OPMCM staff members not to procure anything new except very essential stuffs. The former rebel leader, who succeeded in becoming the first Prime Minister of Republic of Nepal, had drawn flak from various quarters, including from within his Maoist party, for his lavish lifestyle during his first term in Singhadarbar 2008-2009. Dahal had allegedly used a new bed that cost Rs 100,000 then. Dahal's successor, KP Sharma Oli, had vacated Baluwatar on Wednesday, prior to the prime ministerial election in the Parliament. He would be accompanied by his family members including wife Sita. Dahal had assumed his office yesterday.
