Deepa Dahal, an investigative journalist, writer and lecturer, has been appointed as Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah's press and research expert.
Journalist Dahal was appointed to the position today, according to the Prime Minister's Advisor and Secretariat Management Procedures, 2017.
Dahal, who has been active in journalism and academia for more than two decades, began her duties today. Dahal will contribute to Prime Minister Shah's communication strategy, including media and research.
This appointment was made to bring her extensive journalism experience in the areas of corruption control, good governance and social justice into the government's mainstream.
Dahal has over 20 years of professional journalism experience, including radio, television, print and online. She recently worked as a senior correspondent for Ukaalo.com, where she did investigative journalism.
Dahal, who has been teaching journalism at Tribhuvan University's Padyamakanya Multiple Campus for seven years, also trains students in journalism, communication skills and authentic leadership.
Dahal has been recognised with numerous national and international investigative journalism awards.
