LONDON: France midfielder Paul Pogba is to undergo a medical at Manchester United ahead of a transfer from Serie A champions Juventus, the English Premier League club said on Sunday. United have been widely reported as being prepared to pay a world record fee of 120 million euros (£101.78 million) for the 23-year-old who joined Juventus on a free transfer from the Old Trafford club in 2012. 'Paul Pogba has been granted permission to have a medical in order to finalise his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United,' said the statement. Pogba, who combines physical strength with outstanding technique, scored eight goals and contributed 12 assists in Juventus' title-winning campaign last season. He has won four Serie A titles in as many seasons with the Turin club. Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri, speaking after his side's 3-2 friendly victory over West Ham United in London on Sunday, refused to confirm that a deal was close to completion. 'I don't know much,' Allegri told journalists. 'Tomorrow we'll see if Pogba is still a Juventus player or not.' Pogba himself tweeted: 'When too many people talk nobody understands, talk very soon.' Pogba came through Le Havre's youth system before moving to United's academy in 2009. Speaking ahead of Sunday's Community Shield match against Leicester City, United coach Jose Mourinho hinted that a deal for Pogba was close to completion. Should Pogba move for the 120 million euros quoted regularly in the British media, it would eclipse the world record 100 million euros transfer Real Madrid paid to sign Wales forward Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.
