KATHMANDU: A total of 76 cases have been confirmed positive for scrub typhus by National Public Health Laboratory, said Epidemiology and Disease Control Division. Two deaths from scrub typhus were reported from BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and the deceased are from Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha. The samples collected from at least 15 districts tested positive for the infectious disease. Two cases of Malaria were reported this week including one (Plasmodium falciparum) from Jaganathpur VDC of Parsa district. Four cases of Kala-azar were reported this week, two from Janakpur Zonal Hospital, Dhanusha and one each from District Hospital, Siraha and Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku.
