Singer Khemraj Gurung passes away at 42

KATHMANDU: Renowned Nepali folk singer Khemraj Gurung, who came into the limelight with his popular song “Wari jamuna, pari jamuna”, breathed his last at the Chabahil-based Medicare Hospital today. He was 42. Gurung was suffering from jaundice and other liver-related ailments and was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital with special care for past 11 days, said Ratna Gurung, nephew of the singer told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti. His funeral will be held after the arrival of Gurung’s mother and sister from the United Kingdom. Till then, the body will be kept at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Gurung was famous for his folk and folk-pop songs. His released albums include Dharan-Pokhara, Soaltee, Ghumphir, Aaloo Tama and Anamol among others.
