KATHMANDU, MAY 10

The European Union Delegation to Nepal has launched 11 new grants worth €6.68 million to support civil society organisations working with youth, LGBTIQ+ communities and persons with disabilities.

The grants, announced at a ceremony on May 6, stem from two major programmes focusing on youth engagement through culture, digital innovation and sports, as well as inclusive political participation.

A total of 36 organisations from Nepal and abroad are involved in implementing the projects. Of the total funding, €5.1 million has been allocated for youth-focused initiatives, while €1.58 million will support inclusion and political participation of marginalised communities.

EU Ambassador Veronique Lorenzo said the initiative aims to empower underrepresented groups and promote inclusive development. The projects will focus on creating safe spaces, building skills, supporting entrepreneurship and strengthening advocacy capacity.

The EU stated that the grants reflect its continued commitment to inclusive growth and democratic participation in Nepal.
