Mahatara wins title

TANAHU: Devraj Mahatara won the title of the fourth Byas Ultra Marathon organised by Byas Municipality to mark the Martyrs Day here on Friday.
The 26-year-old Tribhuvan Army Club athlete completed the 40km race from Manukot to Pulimaryang in three hours, three minutes and 51 seconds to finish first.
Suman Kulung of Solukhumbu came second in three hours, eight minutes and one second, while TAC's Bed Bahadur Sunuwar was third in 3:10:05. Mahatara, who had finished second in the previous edition, received Rs 85,077, while Kulung and Sunuwar got Rs 65,077 and Rs 55.077 respectively.
The next five athletes earned Rs 16,077 each as consolation prize. A total of 169 athletes took part in the event that aimed at promoting sports tourism. Former Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat handed over the prizes to the winners.
