International conference to focus on ending unemployment among youth

Kathmandu, September 16 National Youth Council in association with Non-resident Nepali Association is organising international conference of Nepali youths from October 1. Organising a press conference here today, NYC said the youth conference will be held on October 1 and 2 while for next two days youth festival would be organised at Dashrath Stadium. The slogan for the international conference is ‘Social entrepreneurship: Foundation for nation building.’ Madhab Dhungel, vice chairperson, NYC, said the main motto of the conference is to discuss common issues of youths, identify challenges and opportunities to create environment for mobilising youths in nation building process by ending unemployment. The youth conference will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at meeting hall of Agriculture Development Bank, Bode in Bhaktapur. During the conference, experts from various sectors will discuss five pillars of youth development. Thematic groups will hold a panel discussion on quality and technical education; employment, entrepreneurship and skill development; health and social security; youth participation, mobilisation and leadership development and remittance from youth and its investment. “The conclusion of the panel discussion will be made public through Kathmandu Declaration, which will be a guiding document to prepare the roadmap for development of youths,” Dhungel added. Altogether 300 participants aged between 16 and 40 years from within the country and outside will be take part in the conference. Nepali migrants in Gulf countries are also expected to participate in conference. As per the national census 2011, youth constitute 40.35 per cent of the total population while youth literacy in the country is only 71 per cent. Similarly around 550,000 youths leave Nepal for foreign employment.
