Dhangadhi, September 18 CPN-UML Vice-chairman Bhim Rawal today demanded punishment for those guilty of violence in the incident in Tikapur. Speaking at a press meet organised to make public the decisions made by the CPN-UML in Province No 7 in Dhangadi, Rawal said, “The government cannot withdraw cases against perpetrators of violence in Tikapur in the name of Tarai agitation.” He argued that heinous crime could not go unpunished by giving it political colour. “Impunity cannot and should not be encouraged by withdrawing cases against the perpetrators of violence in the Tikapur incident,” Rawal added. He held that attacking individuals with weapons on the pretext of the issue of ethnicity, culture and language was a criminal act. “Since the Tikapur incident was a inhumane act, the guilty should be penalised,” he said.
