KATHMANDU, MAY 5

Cases of dengue fever are prevalent in Bagmati Province, with over 11,000 positive cases confirmed in the past nine months alone.

According to the Health Directorate of Bagmati Province, a total of 11,409 dengue cases have been diagnosed since the beginning of the current fiscal year 2080-81 BS, which commenced on July 17, 2023.

Uttam Prasad Pyakurel, the Directorate's focal person, noted that among these cases, the highest number, 3,501, were reported from Dhading, while the lowest two cases were from Rasuwa.

During this period, Kathmandu reported 3,000 cases, followed by 1,708 in Chitwan, 857 in Makwanpur, 494 in Bhaktapur, 167 in Kavrepalanchowk, 81 in Nuwakot, 79 in Dolakha, 32 in Sindhupalchowk, 27 in Ramechhap, and 23 in Sindhuli.

Tragically, one death from dengue was reported in Makwanpur during the current fiscal year. Given the heightened risk of dengue infection during the summer months, the Health Office urges everyone to take precautions against it.

They are preparing to launch a campaign aimed at locating and eliminating mosquito larvae to contain dengue, a viral infection transmitted by mosquito bites.
