President inaugurates campaign to clean Phewa Lake

POKHARA: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday launched a campaign to clean the Phewa Lake by removing hyacinth that had spread prolifically over the Lake, in Pokhara. Executive Officer at the Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City Office, Bhim Bahadur Kunwar, said the campaign would see an overwhelming participation of officials from security agencies, civil society, civil servants and other various organisations. On the occasion, coordinator of the Civil Society Pokhara, Ram Bahadur Paudel, drew the attention of the President to the degrading beauty of the lake because of hyacinth. On the initiative of the PSMC, the campaign to clean up the lake would be held every Friday.
