PM stresses umbrella act for development of universities

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stressed the need of an 'umbrella act' to govern all universities for the academic development of universities of the nation. Speaking at a programme organised by the Nepal University Teachers' Association (NUTA) today, PM Dahal stated that development of universities was precondition to develop the nation as a whole and the act was necessary for the overall progress of the varsities. Similarly, the investment in education sector must be increased and the universities should be developed as research centres for the further development, he added. The government would take necessary steps for the same, he assured. Likewise, members of the Association had drawn the attention of PM regarding health insurance, life skill trainings, freedom and autonomy for university professors and teachers. The Association had also honoured the Prime Minister for his role and effort in leadership and social and economic reforms in the society.
