Kathmandu, October 19:

M Humayun Kabir, ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, has underlined the need for more economic interactions between business communities of Bangladesh and Nepal for strengthening bilateral trade and commerce relations.

In an interaction with businessmen and officials of Siddharthanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) in Bhairahawa, Kabir noted that despite having ample possibility for the promotion of trade, agriculture, tourism and technology between Nepal and Bangladesh, both countries have not yet been able to take enough advantages of it.

“Plenty of complementaries that exist between our economies could contribute to boost bilateral trade,” he said.

Kabir also emphasised on more investment in both directions by promoting joint venture investments. He urged Nepali businessmen to invest in Bangladesh in fertilizer industries, pharmaceuticals, agro processing and export processing zones, and tourism.

Speaking on the occasion, Ram Shankar Kandu, president of SCCI, asked Bangladeshi envoy to address a number of problems being faced by Nepali businessmen while exporting and importing goods to and from Bangladesh.
