Over 70 patients of dengue and scrub typhus treated in Nepalgunj

KHAJURA: Dengue and scrub typhus are spreading rapidly in Nepalgunj with more than 70 patients treated at Bheri Zonal Hospital (BZH) and Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital (NMCTH). Among the patients arriving at NMCTH, 50 received treatment for scrub typhus and eight for dengue, said the hospital's Director Dr M Kidabai, adding that most of the patients have been discharged while some have been referred to Kathmandu and India's Lucknow. The BZH also treated 10 patients suffering from scrub typhus and two others suffering from dengue, one from Nepalgunj and other from Dang, said the hospital's chief Dr Shyam Sundar Yadav said. Dr Yadav added that the hospital has lodged an appeal to the line ministry and department subject to availability of examination kits that are in short supply.
