TUTH resident docs decide to go on strike for Dr KC's cause

KATHMANDU: Resident doctors at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital on Tuesday announced that they would stay away from all services except emergency from Wednesday if the government did not meet hunger-striker Dr Govinda KC's demands. A meeting of the resident doctors at the hospital took the decision to this effect this afternoon, according to Dr Lilan Maharjan. The veteran orthopaedic surgeon resorted to the fast-unto-death for the tenth time 17 days ago, putting forth various demands for what he called reforms in Nepal’s medical education sector. His health condition is said to be deteriorating. Earlier today, Health Minister Gagan Thapa had met Dr KC at the TUTH premises where he is sitting on hunger strike. READ ALSO:
