President at all-party meeting urges leaders to find way out

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday urged political parties in the Parliament to forge consensus in finding out a way out to the existing political deadlock. CPN-ML General Secretary CP Mainali told the BBC Nepali Service that the President told leaders she was worried about the current political situation due to growing differences among the parties. Leaders of the parties had shared views of their respective parties with the President, according to Mainali. He also informed that no any concrete development was seen towards the resolution. Chiefs of all parties represented in the Parliament were invited to the meeting held at the Sheetal Niwas this afternoon. The meeting has been taken as a significant development in the political atmosphere as major parties are seen at odds over the Constitution amendment bill that the government recently registered at the Parliament.
