Dadeldhura, December 16 The District Education Office Dadeldhura declared Ajayameru VDC in the district as fully literate last Tuesday, adding to the number of VDCs in the district that have been declared fully literate. District Education Officer Basanta Kumar Khatri said that besides Ajayameru, other VDCs such as Ganeshpur, Bhadrapur, Belapur, Koteli, Samaiji and Mastamaundau of the district have been declared fully literate. “The provision stipulates that any VDC with a 95 per cent or higher literacy rate qualifies to be declared fully literate, and these VDCs meet this criterion,” Khatri said. He added, “Of the total 4,420 people aged between 15 to 60 years in Ajayameru VDC, 4,341 are literate.” The DEO informed that they were planning to transform the education system of the district within a year or so. ”We have already started our homework for this, and have also made public a commitment paper amidst an education conference held here recently,” he said, calling for the support of locals, political stakeholders, and government and non-government organisations. Various organisations including Lunibha Baal Sarokar Samuha, a non-government organisation, has been supporting literacy campaign in the district.
